Hi all,

I hope you guys can help me.

I'm trying to connect my Xbee modules (XBee Wireless Kit from Parallax) to my PC (with Windows 10 Pro) but i can't, nothing happens when i connect them to my PC.

I installed the latest driver from Parallax page (https://www.parallax.com/downloads/parallax-usb-driver-installer).

And FTDI drivers from this page (http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm)

Installed drivers:

Any idea?

Regards.

You said nothing happens. What do you expect to happen? The XBee connected to the PC won't do anything by itself. It must be used in conjunction with some software for communication.

    Hi Chris,

I mean that my PC doesn't recognize the modules as a COM port.

Do you mean the "XBee Wireless Pack, Product ID: 32440 ?
  • Hi Kwinn,

    Yes, that one.

OK, then you should have the following:
    2 - XBee 802.15.4 embedded-antenna module (#32404)
1 - XBee USB Adapter for easy PC connection (#32400)
    1 - XBee 5V/3.3V Adapter for microcontroller connection (#32401)

One of the two XBee #32404 modules should be plugged in to the USB Adapter #32400, and the other to the 5V/3.3V Adapter #32401. When you plug the usb cable from the PC to the #32401 Adapter Windows should recognize that adapter as a USB serial port if the cable is good and the drivers were installed properly. If the port is not recognized try another USB cable, and if that does not work uninstall the driver, shut down and reboot your computer, and re-install the driver following the instructions exactly.

BTW, you should only be installing the Parallax driver, so uninstall the FTDI and Parallax drivers, shut down and reboot the PC, and install the Parallax driver.
  • Problem solved. I tried with another USB and now works fine.

    Regards.
