Bigger than Javalin?

Chaps,

I got to wondering recently what would the next step be up from a Javalin - if you wanted a·Java development environment, more memory space, more speed and such?

Couldn't think of where to go to even look!

Any ideas?

    Theres the JStamp http://jstamp.systronix.com/index.htm
(Parallax, is this trademark infringement? I definately believe the case could be made for "customer confusion" since the word Stamp in the realm of microcontrollers has always been associated with Parallax products)

on the site there is a comparison chart of the different java microcontrollers here: http://jstik.systronix.com/compare.htm

alternatively there is the Teeny module using the .net platform, a writeup of the product is here http://www.windowsfordevices.com/news/NS4666205829.html

They trademarked JStamp before we could ... not infringement, but certainly confusing to customers as anyone involved with microcontrollers knows that Stamp = Parallax.

Depends how much brute force you want, I guess. There comes a point where you're entering SBC (single Board Computer) territory, with all that entails, in terms of cost & complexity. ARM, x86 and others are all out there, in all flavours, sizes and complexities, and running Java apps is no big deal, once you've got a useful OS (that is, not WinCE...).

JStamp PDF claims the JStamp can run off a 9V battery for over 24 hours!

Not exactly a huge claim there, No?

considering how low of a capacity in mah a 9V has, its not that bad of a statistic. I have a digital tablet and the pen takes a AAAA battery, yes quadruple A battery, thats not a mistype. No retailers carry them, they have to be ordered online. But I discovered a 9V alkaline battery uses 6 AAAA's in series to produce 9V, so I just buy a 9V and disassemble it to get 6 AAAA's. Its capacity in mah is less than half of a AAA, which means the 9V has less than half the capacity in mah than a AAA as well.
