I'm just passing along what I think is a pretty good deal. I purchased a
soldering/desoldering kit from Fair Radio (www.fairradio.com, 419/223-2196).

The kit consists of a Weller 24V 42W pencil, plus 8 soldering tips _and_ 7
de-soldering tips. The desoldering tips use a vacuum to suck up the melted
solder. The kit comes with a squeeze-bulb fitting for vacuum use with the
de-solder tips. You could also connect the de-soldering tip to a vacuum
line or pump. The kit costs $84.50. This is very reasonable when compared
to commercial desoldering stations. Of course, it's not a production tool,
but for hobby and prototyping/design, it's fine. It's brand new,
everything's included, and it runs on normal 110VAC mains power. I have no
connection with Fair Radio, I'm just passing along my experience with one
of their products.
