Look in your BIOS, there should be various power settings. Look for options
such as power on after power loss, or you may even have an option which lets
you wake on keyboard, where you can just hit space bar or soemthing to turn
the computer on.

I have a customer who wanted the exact same thing. The motherboard had an
Award BIOS and I merely set the power setting to go back on after power loss
and it works. Most newer AMI BIOSes have an option which lets you have the
power "return to previous state" so if you are running NT and turn it off,
when you turn your strip back on it will turn on.

Regardless, the key to your issue is in the BIOS.

Subject: [STAMPS] [OT] Windows 95/98 Shutdown w/o Power Off

Hi,

I prefer to turn off my computer with my AC power outlet power switch. Does
anyone know how to prevent a Windows 95/98 computer from powering off
automatically during a shut down? I don't like to have to press the
computer's
power switch to power on my computer. Windows NT does not power off
automatically during a shut down. I'll try and send this message to
basicstamps@egroups.com but I suspect it will be bounced.

Sincerely,

Dave
