Anyone know where I could find an 8k or greater NVRAM chip that is compatible
with the BS-2?

is that what you had in mind ?

Or is battery-backed RAM an imperative ?

A larger RAM buys you NOTHING as far as the BS-2 interpreter is concerned.
The limitation is in the internal addressing. If that was your goal (larger
programs) the only choice is ... segmentation ... via the BS-2SX.
