High Speed Square Wave Pulse Output (20kHz)

I have a BS2 and I need to provide a square wave 0 to 5 volt square wave to drive a stepping motor drive. Not a driver chip, but a complete drive that requires a 0 to 5 volt square wave. I need the high frequency output pulse train to drive the motor above 2400 rpm.

Has anyone developed a circuit for this type of application. I have used the FREQOUT and PULSOUT commands with no luck in reaching my top speed of 20kHz. I used the FREQOUT with a Schmitt Trigger but because the FREQOUT is generated via a·PWM the drive did not run in sink with the frequency. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Larry·

What varies about the pulse? Duration? Duty cycle?·Is 20kHz just the maximum you need? The PAK-VIII is very versatile and could do this since it has a minimum period of 10uS. However, depending on what you want to vary, you may or may not get sufficient resolution.
