Can I run LED RGB Strip - Addressable (APA102)

On the P8X32A-Q44 or any parallax micro controllers?

I want to test with the propeller Flip micro controller.

I also have propeller activity board WX.

Will any of these work for the APA102 strips?

If so...

What Library's do I need?

Beau Schwabe created an APA102 RGB LED Demo... Attached is a ZIP of the project, that can be used as a start on your own code.

Is there any code for Propeller C?

I had converted the project with spin2cpp a while ago, it compiles, but I have not run this in a while... Give it a try!

And, I've just attached JonnyMac's APA102 demo project (also converts to C with spin2cpp)...

    That's still amazing.

  • Since the APA102C is similar to SPI, you may be able to use anything. I use the Propeller. I've attached the latest version of my APA102C object which has been used in the movie Zoe (animation code by my friend, Matt Hawkins) and in the TV show Black Lighting (Thunder's belt buckle; animation code by me). That is to say that I think you can trust it.
