Ironing Robot

Possible? Apparently. Labor saving? No. But let's all show the wives to legitimize our relentless robotics pursuits. "I do it all for you, honey."

"When you make a thing, a thing that is new, it is so complicated making it that it is bound to be ugly. But those that make it after you, they don’t have to worry about making it. And they can make it pretty, and so everybody can like it when others make it after you."

  • Although fabric pattern cutting has been automated for years, anything else dealing with cloth (e.g. sewing, ironing, etc.) is a nearly insurmountable challenge for automation. The actual ironing is the easy part. Positioning and moving the cloth is another matter altogether.

So sewing sweatshops are still a thing and probably will be for some time to come.
