Parallax Laser Range Finder (#28044) - captures images also when dark?

I understand #28044 is a laser range finder to measure distance regardless (more or less) of the light conditions.
Saw that it can also capture grayscale images, am I correct in my assumption that the camera is like any other non-IR camera, i.e. needs light to 'see'? Thus in a pitch black room I'd get a pitch black picture.

Correct. It's just a regular CMOS camera: no night-vision capabilities.

  • Thx, hoped I would've been wrong this time also :-)
