Problem with Boe-Bot Digital Encoder

I installed the Digital Encoders as described in the Manual. After some testing I found, that the Encoder counts more often than the weel passes a hole of the wheel. In the Datasheet of the Sensors I read, that the distance should be 3-9 mm. This is also written in the Parallax-Manual, who write that the distance should be a few millimeters. But the distance between the wheel and the sensor is less than 1 mm. When I loosen the screw of the wheel and pull it nearly off, the distance is large enough and everything works fine. But in this setting the robot can't drive any more.
I would be happy if anyone can help me.

  • I've solved the problem: The Digital Encoder need between 4.75V and 5.25V Supplyvoltage. I used 4 akkus which resultet in 4V at the Digital Encoder, because the Dropout-Voltage of the stabilization is typically 1.1V. Now I'm using batteries and everything works fine.
  • Akkus?
  • Quick Bing search revealed a pic of batteries, my first assumption . Four akkus would make sense in this case. Kudos!
