Dr. Talbot and I have noticed a few common questions pertaining to the microMedic 2013 National Contest. These types of questions relate less to technical issues around your submittal, and more about the contest in general. Is the kit required to participate in the contest?
No. You can still request a project number and be in the contest.
What is the real purpose of submitting the video?
To get a free microMedic Inspiration Kit, to see that you are committed to the contest, and so that the judges can get to know you. The video is not required to participate in the contest.
Do I have to use what's in the kit for the microMedic contest?
No, the kit is there to stimulate creativity, but you don't have to use it to win the contest. The judging criteria don't favor use of the kits in any way.
Do I have to use a microcontroller?
Yes, the project must use a microcontroller, even if there's a PC, an iPhone or some other computing device involved in the project. The project should include some electronics (components, sensors, circuits).
