The style of commenting differs not much from what you are doing and you can keep your source where it is. But like Phil said anybody can (re)create the html-doc out of your source easy.

I am currently building up my own (Silver?) Standard Library of those objects I really need often.(Serial,I2C,SD,TV,VGA). Documenting them and, well add some generic I/O methods. This is preatty rewarding in it self. As you said "What Phil has done looks very professional".
