    Peter,
Are you going to have some of these available soon?

Hi Jim, sorry about that, I've missed the previous post and I thought I had already mentioned it. Yes, Been using them for quite a while now, they work really well. I hadn't really worked out a price for them but I had to get a stack of the pcbs to make ti worthwhile. I should setup an online shop, I've got boxes of stuff here which is new and some of it is surplus to my requirements. Anyway I will sell them in lots of 3 for $25USD + shipping (max $10 but maybe $5) which sounds like a good price. I would have to do standard airmail to keep the cost down too, I still haven't figured how they can ship from China so so cheap.

BTW, I haven't gotten around to programming up the tiny MSP430 chip on-board yet but you might not be worried about that......

    Peter,
Three for $25.00 + shipping works for me. Just say when and how.

    Hi Peter,
I tried Google, but couldn't find s.th. about your business or a place where all the great modules you mention in the threads are visible and possibly on sale.
Some of it sound quite interresting not oly for hobby, but for my business and colleagues as well.
We are building electronic testing systems for sensors and actuators, mainly for automotive.

I am "giving" myself some time over the next few week to setup the webpages and online store so I am evaluating web builder software for an eCommerce store and just trying out OpenCart now. But it probably won't be ready until after mid-January sometime.

Peter, can you post a (digikey or mouser) link or a model # for the Phoenix din case you showed earlier in this thread?

Did you have any problems with serial data integrity when using either your BTSER or the cheap chinese versions? I have one of the chinese versions and I've tested it with two HTC phones using SENA BTerm at the default settings (9600, etc). When using (a modified version of) the Snake game the prop transmitted data gets a bit scrambled at times when the game is also polling for input. I'm new to messing with BT serial wireless. Wondering if it is the phone, the chinese BT module, or simply the transmission setup, and hoping you have a few pointers that could save me and probably others some time.

Thanks for answering MJB and updating us on your future store.

    -Chris

    Hi Chris,

Here's link to the product at Phoenix Contact in Germany. It's the UEGM family with the MSTB Combicon connector.

I use the Bluetooth modules at 230,400 baud without any problems and when I download large amounts of Forth source code I find that the module buffers this without any problems and the throughput is less than there would be with a direct serial connection so I don't even need the 10ms line delay that I normally put in.

Try the setup from a PC first and make sure that works, then you know where the problem may lie.

I ended up switching to Tracy's FullDuplexSerial4Port object, and had no further problems. I had been trying the CLib cserial. It may have been something I did, or did incorrectly, that caused cserial to not work well. I found that when using 9600 baud to the BT module on port 1, port 0 to PST could only hit 57600; any higher and it misbehaved.

Regarding the BT, I found the best search terms to find information about this module are "
    JY-MCU bt_board v1.05 LINVOR FIRMWARE"

I replied in the comments here (http://www.dankrill.com/lab/index.php?content=procedures&set=b&item=11
) about not needing to pull-up the Key pin to get into AT mode, and that my module needed AT command characters sent to it at least as fast as with at most 1/18th second between characters, for it to recognize the command. So manually typing anything but AT it wouldn't respond properly.

This information here shows more BAUD rates than those listed at dankrill. http://www.wavesen.com/probig.asp?id=11. I have tested down to 1200, but haven't yet gone above 9600. Update: I'm now using it at 38400.

update: subsequently ran across an arduino sketch documenation that backs up the per-character delay.

I've been playing with those cheap Bluetooth modules (All kinds of them on Ebay under $15.00)
The catch with these is that they are cheap from China, but it takes some digging to get the documentation straight.

Hopefully, this project will save some folks some of the time and frustration I've gone through, as they are cheap, and easy to use serial devices which will provide good short range communication with the Propeller. To top it off, I've added an Introduction to Just Basic for creating a snazzy interface on the PC to control your Propeller projects.

    Here's the link:

    Hello!
I normally do not like responding to an older thread but....

Jeff, obc, where are your site are the instructions for assembling the board sitting on top of the QuickStart one?

Edit: I hadn't read Buck's post carefully enough before I initially replied. To answer his question, here's the link to the instructions for assembling the Quick Proto.

    http://www.gadgetgangster.com/find-a-project/56?projectnum=295

Rather than delete my original post I'll strike it out.

Here are a couple of links I found:

    http://gadgetgangster.com/news/56-jeffs-shop/534-bluetooth-howto.html

    and

    http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-use-Bluetooth-with-your-Propeller/

Apparently a recent issue of Nuts & Volts included an article about using Bluetooth with the Propeller. I'm close to subscribing to N&V again so I can gain access to Jon's articles.

Edit: Sorry, I missed the point of your question. Here's a forum post with a photo of the board.

    http://forums.parallax.com/showthread.php/138787-NEW-Quick-Proto-and-Quick-Player-modules-for-QuickStart

And following the above link I found this:

  • Was the Gadget Gangster site cited earlier shutdown? I found a reference to all of this on the Hack A Day site based on their perennial tagging of blog posts and sure enough it was an almost easy to follow write up on what we all discussed. However the site it references, and indeed same here, isn't there. I get a parking available squawk from those clowns at the domain name registry agent who sponsors that clumsy female NASCAR driver.

For those that ended up with the HC-06 or HC-05 board from EBay without interface, this DIY hack works well for me.
  • Good to know.

I still am not thrilled about replying to an older post but all I've managed to find so far is this via Sherman's machine:
    https://web.archive.org/web/20120929010521/http://www.gadgetgangster.com/news/56-jeffs-shop/534-bluetooth-howto.html

It glommed the text perfectly, but not the imagery. Did someone manage to collect them? Or even has it saved as PDF?

That's still relevant. Almost. I did find that the majority of everything wandered over to the Instructables site at:
instructables.com/id/How-to-use-Bluetooth-with-your-Propeller/ and even though via IE we see appalling and not at all relevant advertising, it is there.

And wonder of wonders I found that I'd already downloaded the relevant files.
