Capacitance touch sensor using RC time

I would like to make a touch sensor pad simliar to this : http://mondo-technology.com/pcpad.html

What I'm not sure of, is how to arrange the resistor/capacitor so that the person touching the sensor pad will change the RC value.

The qprox "Wheel & Slider" are pretty neat, I guess that's what the ipods use?
