The Propeller does not have a "special purpose" A/D converter. It does have a special counter mode to do sigma-delta A/D conversions well enough to digitize sound. There are several "objects" included with the Propeller Tool that illustrate this and there's an application note about the counters that's downloadable from the Propeller page that discusses both A/D and D/A conversion using them.
