USB to Serial Adapter Compatibility

Hello,

i have a BS2e and do not have any serial ports on my laptop and was wondering if i can use a generic USB to serial adapter or must i use the Parallax USB to serial adapter?

At the moment i have been using a PDA (Palm) USB to serial adapter but i am not getting any communication between the stamp and the computer, the error message "cannot find stamp" is displayed.

·· Not all adapters work properly with the BASIC Stamp for various reasons.· We have tested the Radio Shack adapter as well as our own to be compatible.· Other than that you simply have to try them.· What I can tell you is that typically on laptops you need to disable the FIFO buffers in the advanced port settings to get them to work if they even will.· I hope this helps.· Take care.
