I would suggest that Parallax put buttons on their forums and their 'normal' website so that instead of having to go through a sieres of pages or a sperate link we could just click from one to the other for viewing.

If you look up top of this page, we click on the Home button and it takes us to the home page for forums, why not have a Parallax button that takes us to the home page of parallax or the parallax robotics page or some place like that?

I'm not certain I get where you're looking, but... what I have is a large 'Parallax Inc' logo at the top left corner, and when I click on it, I get the Parallax homepage.

I have a better idea.... Why dont they put a button on their site that I can push, that will make a double hazelnut mocha appear on my desk? Now there's an idea.... lol ;)

The thing is, if they do a mocha button, then they'll need to do a whipped cream button. Then it's only a matter of time for a cinnamon bun button.

Then the problem becomes that everybody ends up sitting around all day, drinking mochas and eating cinnamon buns. No work would get done, except in IT, since they never leave their desks anyways!

Yeah, then the next thing you know some guy from cali will be asking for a no foam extra soy button.

why not just utilise the links toolbar in your web browser?

Who says you have to have knowledge to use it?

....That big logo that says parallax.com at the top of the page...That takes me right there...and I don't even need to pay gas money!

This topic has been driven so far off topic it's amazing, and steel is trying to bring it back, Kudos for him. And yes, I agree with the author, there should be a "darn" button cause I'm to lazy to think about what the big logo does!

But, that logo is very confusing. Immediately underneath the logo it says http://forums.parallax.com, suggesting that --even if one thinks this is a button-- it will go to the _forums_ main page and not to the Parallax products home page.

In addition, the "ALT" tag value (in the source HTML for this logo/button) contains the text "Parallax Forums" and that text is what displays in a "balloon" (if you have this feature enabled) when you run your mouse cursor over the button. Again, this leads one to believe the button will take you to the _forums_ home page.

Only by examining the information at the bottom of the web page while you hover over the logo will you see that the logo is a link to the Parallax products home page, http://www.parallax.com (and not http://forums.parallax.com" as the logo itself states).

CJ gave you a solution to your problem... about 7 posts above.

I agree with·what PAR said. I didn't know·there was a link to Parallax until Gadgetman (http://forums.parallax.com/member.php?u=40797)·pointed it out. I had no reason to or thought of trying to click on a logo that said where I already was.

But thats only half the original thought. The other half is getting to the forums from Parallax.

I never trust what I see in a window, so I always check what the status-line at the bottom of the window says when I point at something...

Gadgetman -

You and ME BOTH! I learned that lesson a LONG time ago. Even my email client (Eudora) will inspect a link before you click on it and do the following:

1. Report at the bottom of the page where it's going to take you

2. COMPLAIN LOUDLY if the theoreticl link, and the ACTUAL link differ!

What a saving grace that second featue has been. No longer do I have to "believe" that when it says: www.mybank.com, it is actually directed to MYBANK, and not something like BANKRUPTCY.COM!

Regards,

Bruce Bates
