I'm a newbie to the Stamp community. I was thinking for a kiosk-like display, I'd like to control a portable DVD player with a ten-key pad: eg Skip to track, start, stop, etc.

I've looked around on-line and haven't come found anything.

Any suggestions?

Tom

Worst case, break one open and just connect the BS2 I/O-pins where the buttons are...

You'll need to watch out for voltage-levels and probably have current-limiting resistors, too, but in theory it should work.
But don't blame me if you ruin $200 worth of electronics... http://forums.parallax.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

True. I hope to be able to tell the video player: "Play track #3 and then stop." That's the main thing I'm looking for!

This may be a simpler project if you use Google and search for a DVD player whose IR remote commands are well documented. The Basic Stamp combined with a simple IR circuit can then emulate these commands.
