push buttons and arrow keys

I need a way to get user input. What I need is basically need is an up arrow key, a down arrow key, and an 'enter' key. The push button that came with my homework board is good for testing, but ideally I will need something bigger...maybe the size of the arrow keys on your computer.

Questions:
Does anyone have any first hand experience with parts they can recomend? Would I have any problems usings SPST type switches from RadioShack? Besides the pushbutton itself, what else would I need to connect it to my board?
