If I want to substitute a BS2e (mailto:Bs@e) for a BS2p24 that uses the LCDCMD command, can I substitute
serout 0, baud.......
for LCDCMD 0
or is it more involved that that?

It's much more involved -- the LCD commands of the BS2p family are for parallel LCDs connected in 4-bit mode.· Have a look at the demo code for the LCD AppMod to see how to go back and forth between the BS2p and non-BS2p modules.
