Picture frame based on Propeller

Hello Prop heads,
I am wondering if the Propeller hardware with an SD card slot could be used to create a Picture Frame with 1280x1024 or 1024x768 resolution for old LCDs?
Can it show images and play video?
What would the complexity level of the programming be beginner/intermediate/expert?
Is there a ready driver written?

The Propeller is not capable of decoding JPG, PNG, GIF, or any other compressed image files. There is a program available that lets you view a specially formatted (bad quality) BMP file, but that is about it.

Something with a lot more processing power, like an ARM 9, is required. Samsung makes this range of ARM 9-based chips that are intended for such applications:
