Hello, I want to start learning how to program the propeller. Can someone point me to the best referances to really get down to the nuts and bolts of the programming. Is there any 3rd party books that I could purchase to help jump start my efforts?

Thank you.

The Propeller Education Kit Labs (http://forums.parallax.com/showthread.php?89958-Propeller-Education-Kit-Labs-Tools-and-Applications) is a good place to start. You can also download "Game Programming for the Propeller Powered Hydra" (http://www.parallax.com/StoreSearchResults/tabid/768/txtSearch/hydra/List/0/SortField/4/ProductID/474/Default.aspx) (see the "Full Hydra Manual" link). There are all sorts of other downloads on the Propeller Downloads (http://www.parallax.com/tabid/832/Default.aspx) webpage near the bottom. "Programming and Customizing the Multicore Propeller Microcontroller" is a nice introduction as well as a series of chapters, each going into detail on another fairly sophisticated and interesting project. Make sure to check out the "Spin Zone" series of Nuts and Volts Magazine articles (http://www.parallax.com/tabid/272/Default.aspx). They can be downloaded from Parallax's Resources webpage.

I'd recommend the PE Kit labs... You can find it in one of the sticky threads in this forum (third from the top).

Most suggest the Propeller Education Kit (PEK) Lab book -- it's available as a PDF download from Parallax.

There are a couple third-party books available, but you're probably best going the PEK first.

I just started programming the propeller a few months ago and got the propeller education kit to learn how. I didn't have a propeller at the time and knew nothing about how to program it. I had a lot of fun going through the labs and even learned a few of the "tricks" of how to program it in ways to make the best use of it's abilities and minimize it's limitations. If you don't want to buy the kit you can download the manual that comes with it for free.

Oh and someone should warn you that it can be dangerously addictive ;)
