I did a quick search and found nothing on the subject so excuse me if the topic has already been covered.

Has anyone played around with an xbox connect? If you have could you share some experiences and or code?

I think you mean "Kinect" right?
I haven't seen anybody doing it directly from a Prop.
But, I think I have seen Microsoft Robitics something or other working with Parallax somehow for a laptop drive robot.
Personally, I think using a laptop on a robot is cheating though...

Prop1 can barely do USB, I think. There is some USB code in OBEX that requires a 6 MHz crystal and can interface with USB bluetooth.
But, I think making that work for Kinect would be a serious challenge...

Prop2 should be able to better interface with Kinect, but that may still be months away.

I'm working with Vinculum II chips right now. They should be able to interface with Kinect (At least, I think so.).
These chips are fairly low cost and easy to connect to a Propeller.

Maybe we should look around and see if anybody has Kinect working with Vinculum...

I think I read somewhere that in order to have enough processor speed to interpret the data from the Kinect, you need a full-blown PC..

...if I could only remember where I read it. I know it is somewhere on this site..... following that "RoboRazzi" project.


...Found it... Tom_C stated something along those lines in his 2nd comment....


The depth and color camera worked well too. Too bad it takes a PC to be able to process the Kinect data at the moment.
