Is it 400KHz or 1MHz speed?

You might want to send Parallax an email for support on this one. Usually writes are the limiting factor.

400KHz

I believe the Hydra has an Atmel 24LC1024 which can only function at 1MHz when its supply voltage is 5V. The Hydra supplies 3.3V.

You could replace the 24LC1024 with an Atmel 24LC1024B which is rated at 1MHz with a 3.3V supply.

@Jazzed: Ah, good point about writes being the factor. I will RTFM on that one, but I am interested in streaming bytes out, so read time is more important. Man, that's a great point.

@Mike: Yeah, I was wondering if it was a 24LC1024 or 24LC1024B. The B version allows 1 MHz at 2.5V+. I am thinking common-denominator Hydra specs for largest target audience of Hydra owners.

Thanks!
