It's great to see this stuff in the stores. Kind of reminds me of the old stores like Lafayette and heathkit with the electronics kits.
I was surprised one day to see even radio shack stocking some BASIC Stamp kits for robotics type stuff.
I'll have to check it out next time in MicroCenter. I've bought many items from sparkfun.

Cool! Do they stock any Parallax inventory? Is Micro Center a chain or "mom and pop" owned store?

There reason I ask is because we lack any electronics/robotics oriented stores around here (although Radio Shack seems to be on the right track again.) I've been trying to figure out a way to open a small shop that cater's to electronics hobbies.

They sell computers, tools, components, books and some video games. They are a national chain. They seem to have police or security in their stores. If you give them your address, expect them never to stop the advertisements coming to your house. Even if you get them to take your name off their list the advertisements will still come to "Resident".

They sell a cheap computer called the Powerspec and it has been cheaper than the Emachine.

Ah, so that's why the SparkFun merchandise isn't locked down, like it would be at Wal-Mart.
