Below is a link to the video promo for my episode of "Mad Scientists". This new series starts on September 28th at 10:00 PM on the National Geographic Channel. Each episode highlights the work of an individual maker/inventor. In my case, the show focuses in on my collection of robots that I have built over the past several years for articles that have appeared in Robot Magazine. There is a “reality” spin to the show where the inventor is challenged to build something with the show’s host (John Bowler) in just two days. For the grand finale the “build” is revealed to an audience of friends and family and put to the test. For me the challenge was to build a robot that could play the basketball game of PIG. You’ll have to watch the show to see how well we did.

All the robots you will see in the show are based on the Parallax Propeller. You may catch a glimpse of a Propeller Proto Board as well as some screen shots filled with Spin code.

That's great! Reading your articles inspired me to move move from the BS2 to the propeller. Can't wait to see what you've cooked up next!

Wait, you're going to get a protoboard on TV in a role where it's not part of a bomb? Awesome!

National Geographic Channel schedule is showing "Rocket City Rednecks" for this time slot.
Anyone know if "Mad Scientists" got bumped or dumped?
I have not been able to find it anywhere on their schedule.

The two shows that are on my NGC on Oct 5 are:

Ultimate Rock Crawler and
The 26-Foot Lawn Dart

Neither one of those seems to have anything to do with Robots.

I'm Cox Cable in Southern California.

My episode will broadcast on November 2nd but that is always subject to change. I'll post here when I have an "official" date.

This definitely sounds like a fantastic episode to watch with the kids. They really enjoyed seeing your Baxter project in the magazine. So much so that I ended up building a similar robot for them.

Great Job!

Unfortunately, Ngc is one of the NewsCorp channels and the scumbags at Newscorp are wanting to up their rate by 40%. Therefore DirectTV has removed them from the air. I agree with DTV but it just happens to come at a bad time. I will have to figure out how to get it On-demand with my laptop rather than through Direct.

I recieved an email from DirectTV saying that the contract talks are over and NatGeo (and others) will continue with no interruption in service.

Tonite at 6:30 on Nat Geo channel!

I don't get NG channel, but my buddy is recording it for me. Looking forward to seeing your 30 minutes of fame, Steve.

Andy Warhol only guaranteed 15 minutes of fame, so you sure showed him!

Thanks erco! (and everyone else for their kind messages)

It's actually only 22 1/2 minutes (24 in the UK, I'm told) of fame but I guess I did beat the 15 minute mark..
