8KHz PWM style DAC?

Hello there,

I've just read some Counters and applications notes from the webpage.

I could make a simple DAC out of a PWM according to the examples, like a fading LED and some other nifty stuff.

However, how could I do this in 8KHz? I need to do some DDS (digital direct synthesis) here with an arbitrary waveform.
