We are working on a senior design project in which we are using a VMusic2 module to play mp3 files through our BS2p40. Originally we had a BS2 micro-controller, however we needed more I/O pins. This is why we changed to the BS2p40 with the understanding that our code would stay the same. However, we are having trouble with outputting the sound with the BS2p40. The BS2 played the files fine with the SEROUT 0,84,["VPF mrjon.mp3",CR] command, but the BS2p40 is not outputting anything to our amplified speaker. If you can help with this please let us know.

Refer to page 419 in the Basic Stamp Manual Ver 2.2. There is a table of Baudmodes for the different chipsets. As the BS2p's have a different operating frequency than the BS2, they need a different Baudmode to output at 9600 baud. In your case it would be SEROUT 0,240.

The VMusic2 is a great module.

Not sure if it will help, but I used a BS2P40 with the VMusic2 as a datalogger:

Andrew,

Why did you use the VMusic2 as opposed to the DLP-VLOG (http://www.vinculum.com/prd_dlpvlog.html)?

Simple reason: I had a VMusic2 already. I looked at changing to Bean's SX based SD datalogger as well, but since attending UPEW'09, I have moved my plungelogger project onto the Propeller (http://forums.parallax.com/showthread.php?p=875698)for this year's plunge (2 weeks away!)
