Im trying to hook up some switches to my board. I hook up a lead to the vdd and a lead to an i/o pin and when i read the digital value usually one way will read very well but the open·side bounces from 0 1 0 1 continiously and changes when i get my hand close to the board or the wires conected to the pin. any thoughts anyone?

you need to use a pull-down resistor to vss on the pushbutton. read the 'whats a microcontroller' text found here to find out why its needed and how to hook it up...
