View Full Version : Modifying OBEX objects

I downloaded the TLV2543 driver object from the OBEX, and was having an insane time trying to get it to work. Long story short, I found a pretty serious bug in it(although it works GREAT without the bug). This is a very simple fix, but I'm not sure if the person who made it is still around to correct it in the obex. I've used this same driver before, but my files got erased and I forgot about the bug - until now.

So, is there any sort of way to modify existing obex objects, or at least comment on them so that other users may side-step these perils? I'd hate for someone else to spend half a day of troubleshooting, only to find out the code has two lines in error...

If, and only if, the original author cannot be contacted, rename it, give credit to the original author in the copyright notice, add your name to the update notices, and resubmit it under your own account. All this is in accordance with the MIT license.

Don't forget it's good form to include your own enduring contact info. Maybe that author ends up seeing your fix! The two of you could then get it sorted!

That would work, Phil... It seems like it may get a little confusing though. I wish users could add their own comments or notes on the same page as the object. This way, if someone is having a problem, they can either read prior user's solutions(if any), or post a comment or something stating they may have found a bug.

You can add a note to other's objects in a form of review (not sure how much the other users look at reviews)

If you can't find the author, use the "review" section to either a)post the steps to fix the bug or b)post a link to your new obex post. You could also start a thread for discussion, and post that link.

Which TLV2543 object is it? I seem to remember there is more than one. One of them is mine. So I am curious about the bug since I use that object a lot.
