View Full Version : Sharing CLOCK and DATA Lines

I'm using a DS1620 Temperature chip and DS1302 Timekeeping chip in the same circuit. I understand the CLOCK lines can be shared. Can I also share the DATA lines?

Yes, so long as you have separate chip select lines for the '1302 and the '1620. Its always a good idea to include a resistor of 220 to 1000 ohms in each data line, to avoid the possibility of contention.
