Rayman's Propeller System Module is now available on Gadget Gangster. If you missed Ray's presentation at UPEW, the PSM is a Propeller based LCD display module that's about the size of a playing card. It's got; A 2.4" TFT LCD,
Built-in USB for control and/or programming,
An onboard 3 axis accelerometer,
An SD Card slot, and a bunch more! Check it out and see photos here (http://www.gadgetgangster.com/find-a-project/56.html?projectnum=162&utm_source=parallax&utm_medium=forum&utm_campaign=psmannounce).

Ray has also added his Accessory board - here (http://www.gadgetgangster.com/find-a-project/56.html?projectnum=177&utm_source=parallax&utm_medium=forum&utm_campaign=psmannounce).

That's neat!! I have seen Raymans tread about this before, and it looks like a handy module.

He did a really good job on this board, it has everything I could ask for with a board of that size and then some. I like how you can power it from the USB or with an external supply and how there are still 8 open I/O. Just a lot of little touches like that - it's really a 'From a pro - For a pro' type board.

Looks like Jeff M has been busy!

Here's the link to several UPEW videos. (There's a page in the works too!)

www.youtube.com/user/ParallaxInc (http://www.youtube.com/user/ParallaxInc)

Since I've Hijacked Nick/Ray's PSM thread, let me encourage others to get one of these.
They are extremely portable, well built and a lot of fun to play with!

Okay - I only have 2 left. I took a few photos so you can see Ray's craftsmanship and get an idea of size:

Thanks Earl!

I'm typing up a User Manual right now... Just noticed a typo in my presentation where I said the power jack is 5.1 mm. But really, it's 5.5-mm OD, 2.1-mm ID...

Ha! Yeah, it's the standard power jack size (same size as the protoboard power jack, right?)

Anyway, just one left! If no-one picks it up by Monday, I'll probably buy it for myself.

Yes, the same one as the protoboard... Just got parts in to make some more! But first, I really should get this User Manual finished!

You can use the code provided the copyright notice remains intact and it's not sold as part of a product...

Find it here:
http://www.rayslogic.com/Propeller/Products/PSM/Files.htm

As you may already know, the startup procedure is unique to every device...

I thought it better to post this here than the pocket prop thread, was that comment directed @ the LCD module he is trying to use or some sort of startup procedure of the PSM?

If you've purchased a PSM, you are free to use the code any way you want, except... I don't want people using my code to sell their own version of my product! In that case a simple licensing fee would be required...

1 Comment, 1 Question.

- For the manual, what is an .mht file?

- For the "PSM Introductory Presentation" it comes up completely garbled using Firefox 3 on Linux. To be fair it does warn me as I'm not using Internet explorer it probably won't work.

MHTML (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MHTML) is an archive format for web pages. IE, Word, and Opera can view it. Regardless, I converted it to pdf and put it up (http://www.gadgetgangster.com/working_files/Project_assets/162/manualv1.pdf).

The preso works in Chrome and IE, but not FF or Opera. Of course, you could just watch him give it! That's up on the product page (http://www.gadgetgangster.com/find-a-project/56.html?projectnum=162).

Thanks to everybody who purchased a unit! I'm working hard to complete the documentation. This little endevour is consuming all my free time, which I have very little of...

May have found a touchscreen that can be added to the same LCD I'm using now. I'm pretty excited about this possibility! Ordered a couple samples already... This will let me keep the same code base... If I can just find room on the board to squeeze in an I2C touchscreen controller (shouldn't be a problem), we'll be in business...

It may also be possible to retrofit current units with the touchscreen, but that would probably mean giving up several pins on the 8-Pin Prop I/O header...

I'm going to try hard to add a touchscreen, one way or another... I was originally going to use a different LCD with already integrated touchscreen, but now I think I can add one to the same display I'm using now...
