Hi,

I have finally finished my PCB LAYOUT layout for the RS485 interface schematic I posted a few weeks ago. based on the help given ( thanks to dMajo) I have come up with the following PCB Layout and Bill of materials ( costed ).

This is my first PCB Design with SURFACE MOUNT parts.
This is the first time I used EAGLE CAD for board layout, At first I hated it, but now I am starting to really like it!

I had to create some parts in eagle, ( this is really painful ) All done on a mac if you are interested.

The main thing that concernes me ( apart from it not working) is the cost per assembly , so far I have based my costs on ording only minimum quantities and I have based the costs on FARNEL AUSTRALIA pricing ( as I can get all the parts within a week while the PCB's are being made). But I know that I can get cheaper elsewhere and also when I purchase higher quantities.

I spent a LOT OF TIME checking availability and pricing of components and entered this info into the Bill of materials database that EAGLE CAD Has built in.

I can't wait to get these boards built so i can start writing some SPIN code for it! ( I have a local PCB Assembly company line up to HAND assembly some for me for prototyping)

This board had to be kept as small as possible as it need to be retro-fitted to an existing design, but later this circuit will be incorporated into the main board ( where the prop chip is)

Please note that the two switchcraft connectors are on the back of the board as this device is panel mounted.

Any comments greatly welcome

regards
