im using the ds1620 digital thermometer chip and am having troubles, it is no working, when i use the code from obex and send the temp.gettempc command to read the celsius temp i get 0, i know its hooked up correctly(but have been checking with a dmm), has anyone had anything like this happen

Any chance we could see your code or a picture/drawing of your setup?

Also, be sure and look through the recent "Question about the DSD1620 & HC4LED" thread,
there is an abundance of ds1620 code in there.
