What is the motor rating?

Do you want it to ramp up·to speed or just switch it on?

Do you wish to change direction?

This would imply you're willing to go from high speed forward directly to high speed reverse (direction but no speed control) which is going to be quite detrimental to the motor and anything attached to it mechanically, as well as potentially unsafe.

If that's truly what you want to do, all you need is a double pole double throw·relay. When the relay is activated it goes in reverse, when it's not activated, it goes forward. You will need a back-emf protection diode reverse biased across the coil terminal.

Finding an appropriate fuse value is also going to be difficult. There is going to be a good deal more than 30 amps passing through the motor feed wires when the switching occurs.

When all else fails, try inserting a new battery.

Wahdawi,

How big is the motor?· What did it come out of?· What is it going to move when your project is complete?
