servos and the hwb

Hello

i have a hwb with a bs2 stamp with a standard parallax servo. is there any way to tell if the servo has turned to far.

when it turns to far i need to have to software know it. I then need to center the servo

Hello,

You cannot do this without external hardware. Also, it depends on what would be turning the servo past this point? If an external force is then you definitely need the hardware, however if it is under program control it shouldn’t be moving past the max range anyway.

I'm under the assumption that servos set their position based on a embeded potientiometer. Might it be possible to hack into that and use that to derrive position?
