Prop plug and MatchPort b/g

Hi everyone,

Would it be possible to just connect a prop plug into a "Lantronix Matchport b/g" for serial communication?

The matchport supports the following -

Interface: CMOS (Asynchronous) 3.3v-level signals, rate is software selectable (300 bps to 921,000 bps)

Serial Line Formats: 7 or 8 data bits, 1-2 stop bits

Parity: odd, even, none

Modem control: DTR, DCD

Flow Control: XON/XOFF (Software), CTS/RTS (hardware), none


I would assume that the prop plug -

"reset" pin would go to DTR

"TX" pin would go to RX

"RX" pin would go to TX
and
"VSS" pin would go to VSS

Don't connect the DTR, the Plug does something special with it.

When the matchport requires DTR you can most likely short circuit it with DCD.
RX and TX are o.k. Note that those names describe what the Plug does wrt to that line (acting as an DTE, thought it is an DEE). But the small triangles on th Plug show you the way http://forums.parallax.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

So do I connect DTR to DCD all the time? Or only when it is needed, If so how?

For some time now you've mentioned your Propeller Domed Sticker, but your avatar does NOT reflect that image. Missing is the sideways 'INC'. Bet you meant to update your avatar. Been wondering when.

Because not enough people are interested in the "Domed stickers" I will probably have to stop asking about them.
I figure I will give a few more days to get some more requests.
If by then I havent reached the minimum requirements I will pull down the website.
